Aiken Technical College Hosts "Give Kids A Smile",
Aiken Technical College will host “Give Kids A Smile,” a free day of dental care, on Friday, Feb. 2, in the dental clinic of its Health and Science Building.
“Give Kids A Smile” is a project of the South Carolina Dental Association in coordination with the dental education departments of the technical colleges of South Carolina, the Medical University of South Carolina, and Palmetto Health Hospital. The service provides needed dental care to eligible children between the ages of six and seventeen.
The project also provides Aiken Technical College dental assisting students with a valuable service learning opportunity. They will volunteer during the clinic.
Last year’s dental day served more than 100 Aiken County children. A similar number are expected to attend this year.
The dental clinic at ATC will be open from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Parents or guardians must accompany children. Appointments are required. Eligibility for care is determined by need based upon insurance, access to care, and general dental health. Care is free, and in many cases, schools will dismiss children for treatment.
